The Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED) has resources to help your business.
IDED can assist you and your business, municipality, school or hospital to come into compliance with state environmental regulations. We can serve as a liaison between you and the state of Iowa, being a portal to information sources that answer multi-media environmental questions and needs.
Small Business Environmental Assistance Program
The Small Business Environmental Assistance Program can:
- Provide free, non-regulatory and confidential advice on environmental issues;
- Serve as your advocate with state regulatory policy makers and
- Mediate concerns between Iowa's small businesses and regulatory officials.

Iowa Air Emissions Assistance
This free assistance program helps small business determine how to apply for permits and determine the steps needed to meet permit conditions. By conducting on-site visits, they gather information for permit and regulation assistance, and help small businesses obtain air permits. The Iowa Air Emissions Assistance Program (IAEAP) at the Iowa Waste Reduction Center has introduced a pioneering free computer program to help small businesses comply with air quality regulatory record keeping requirements for painting operation. The electronic record keeping program Paint+Plus can track business’ coatings usage and resulting emissions, inevitably saving time and money for small businesses. Pollution Prevention (P2) Services
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) P2 Pollution Prevention Services program [www.iowap2services.com/] provides confidential and non-regulatory environmental technical assistance to business and industry to eliminate or reduce waste or hazardous substances at the source. P2 offers no-cost, confidential assistance to businesses in the form of Pollution Prevention Services consultations, assessments, and evaluations as well as our nationally recognized Pollution Prevention Intern Program which can assist in implementing improvements that are environmentally and economically sound.
