The Venture Network of Iowa (VNI) was established to provide a forum through which inventors and entrepreneurs interact in the hope of forging profitable, long-term business relationships. VNI has been a valuable catalyst in the formation of new, viable businesses throughout Iowa by facilitating networking meetings for Iowa entrepreneurs, investors, and business advisors.
The Iowa Department of Economic Development is continuing to expand the VNI program to serve the needs of both emerging and existing businesses through two avenues:
- targeted investment forums
- Angelsoft collaboration technology
Targeted Investment Forums
The department organizes and sponsors targeted investment forums that are focused on vertical markets or stage of investment. VNI Forums are scheduled for investors to meet, network and compare successes as well as to hear additional presentations on new investment opportunities.
Angelsoft, collaboration technology
Angelsoft provides a platform for entrepreneurs to submit their business plan for review by potential investors. Angelsoft boasts to have become a vital ecosystem where real entrepreneurs and real investors meet and collaborate in the effort to build the best new companies of the 21st Century.
Directions for applying to VNI using Angelsoft
VNI and the Iowa Entrepreneur Network [www.angelsoft.net/apply/ien] which is located at www.iowaentrepreneur.com [www.iowaentrepreneur.com] uses Angelsoft to manage our submission process. If this is the first time for a company to use Angelsoft, the company must register. If an Angelsoft account exists and has been used to apply to another angel group, the company can login using the existing account.
- After login, the company will be taken through a step by step process that will gather basic information about the company. There is an opportunity to upload documents that contain the business plan, presentation and video pitch. If these documents are prepared in advance, the application process typically takes about 20 minutes.
- Please fill out the application completely. The input may be completed in phases as data can be saved and retrieved at any time to allow you to complete the application process at your convenience.
- Upon completing the application process, a confirmation email will be sent. A one-page PDF file containing all the application information will also be generated. This "Perfect One-Pager" helps investors assess how to proceed with potential investments and enables investors to compare companies fairly. The software program also gives ability to save the application as a PDF file for future use.
