Petition Process
Processing of a petition requires the following actions:
- The Board directs the appointment of a Committee consisting of Board members and representatives from the area involved in the petition.
- The committee holds a public hearing on the petition.
- Following the public hearing, the Committee either approves or disapproves the petition.
- If the petition is approved, the Board arranges a special election on the petition.
- If the voters approve the petition, the boundary change becomes effective, provided there is no appeal to District Court.
