Dunlap Population: 1,139
If dictionary publishers added a new definition for the word persistence, it could
consist of two words: Dunlap, Iowa. In 1989, a small group of concerned Dunlap residents
gathered to discuss what could be done to revitalize their community. In 1994, Dunlap's
hard work and persistence paid off when it was named an official Rural Main Street Iowa
community by the Iowa Department of Economic Development.
Citywide garage sales, sidewalk sales, a farmers market, holiday events and home shows
are just a few of the events spearheaded by the local Main Street program, which is
formally known as the Dunlap Community Development Corporation. Located on U.S. Highway
30, it is easy to stop by and "Discover the Dunlap Difference." Visit Dunlap!
