Marcus is proud to be one of Iowa's Main Street communities. Located in the
northwest corner of the state, Marcus enjoys a small town lifestyle with big town
amenities such as a new million dollar swimming pool, top-notch school system, five
churches and a state-of-the-art nursing home, care center and pharmacy. Marcus was
named a Main Street community in October 1998.
The annual Marcus Fair, held the second week in August, creates memorable moments
for young and old alike, and early November finds Fall Harvest Fest filling the

Town History
Marcus was founded in 1871. The community continues to be a prime location for livestock
and grain production and to have excellent railroad transportation.
