Geode State Park is located in SE Iowa 10 miles west of Burlington near Danville, Iowa

 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

IVF(2005) Funds for the FY 2007 DNR

Parks Plan:

The DNR received approval to utilize the $1 million Iowa Values Fund (IVF) appropriation in the following manner:

  • $ 750,000 towards Phase I of the Honey Creek Premier Destination Park Resort, and

  • $ 250,000 for Geode State Park Beach Redevelopment Project.
Total: $1,000,000

Project # 1: Honey Creek

The Iowa Values Fund appropriation will be utilized with other funding sources for developing the core facilities for Phase I development of Honey Creek Resort State Park on Rathbun Lake.

Phase I development core facilities:

  1. 105-room lodge/conference center, restaurant and lounge

  2. Indoor family aquatic center
  3. 28 family and group cabins

  4. 18-hole golf course
  5. Boat ramp/courtesy docks

  6. Roads and infrastructure (water, electricity and sewer service)

Project # 2: Geode State Park Beach Redevelopment Project

Monies will be leveraged with other several other funding resources for a beach redevelopment at Geode State Park in Henry County. Project components include a rental shelter with an enclosed kitchenette/restroom, large beach playgrounds specializing in handicap challenge events that will be fun for all abilities and a pedestrian walkway system/trice path which will promote family gatherings. This project will utilize various partnerships and funding sources to enhance and expand recreational opportunities at Geode State Park and sustain the economic vitality of the region.
